1. Support for Compaq PCs is readily available on the manufacturer's website.
2. Otherwise:
(a) Just plug the new card in. Many motherboards switch automatically.
(b) If yours doesn't, go into Setup (hit DEL or ESC or F1 or F11) as the machine first boots, and look for a video setting.
(c) Failing that, look on the motherboard for a miniswitch (unlikely) or jumpers labeled VIDEO EXT/IN or VIDEO EN/DIS.
(d) If you can't disable the onboard video automatically, by a BIOS setting, or by jumpers, disable it in Device Manager. This will work but has the drawback that the resources used by the video adapter may not be freed for other system use.Good luck!
