The Webshop@servenet.com has a number of websites under active management and several under development. You are invited to inspect these sites and offer comments.

Ronald M. Gold: Commercial Real Estate Appraiser, NY: A past president of ASA's New York City Chapter, Ron appraises commercial and residential real estate in the New York metro area. Ron, who is a Vice President of the Greater Harlem Real Estate Board, teaches at the Learning Annex, and at the Real Estate Board of New York.
Music by Pianist Ron Gold: When he's not busy appraising, Ron can often be found tickling the ivories. The King of the Keyboard provides live music for business events, dinners, parties and weddings.
Now Hear This! The Quiz Show.: Another of Ron's passions is the game show he devised for music and the spoken word. It's called Now Hear This!

Ron introduced me to the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) for whom The Webshop@servenet.com now produces the award-winning sites for four local chapters. ASA is a professional society which accredits appraisers in Business Valuation, Gems & Jewelry, Machinery & Technical Specialties, Personal Property, and Real Property (Real Estate).

American Society of Appraisers: New York City Chapter: ASA's NY Chapter includes Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island appraisers.
American Society of Appraisers: New Jersey Chapter: Covering Northern New Jersey (metro NJ), this chapter has recently produced two Regional Governors and an International President for ASA.
American Society of Appraisers: Philadelphia Chapter: Covering the Philadelphia metro region in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, this is another incubator, having generated at least three Regional Governors, including the current one, and an ASA International President.

Many of our websites are for ASA appraisers. Four are from Long Island.

Gem Evaluation Laboratory: Theresa Beltrani is a past president of both the Long Island Chapters of both ASA and the Gemological Institute of America. She appraises gems, jewelry, diamonds and watches in her Unionondale, NY gemological laboratory.
Sencer Appraisal Associates: Active in the ASA (another past president and regional governor), the Appraisers Association of America and the Auctioneers Association, Bernie Sencer appraises machinery and equipment from offices in Port Washington, NY, Silver Spring, MD and Boynton Beach, FL.
Tonkinson Appraisals: Like Bernie, Jim Tonkinson is a two-term past president of the ASA Long Island Chapter, and a machinery and equipment appraiser with worldwide experience.
Arleen Goscinski, ASA: Rounding out our past president's club is Arleen Goscinski of Northport, a former real estate broker, now appraising residential real estate on Long Island. Arleen, one of our earliest website clients, is also active in the Columbia Society for real estate appraisers.

Griffith Appraisals: Tim Griffith is a past president of the NJ ASA Chapter and serves now as New York Area Regional Governor. Concentrating on commercial and industrial real estate appraisals, he appraises properties in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Tim is a certified instructor for USPAP, the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, the code of ethics written by the Appraisal Foundation and authorized by Congress.
NY Real Estate Appraisals: Jim O'Keefe focuses on commercial, industrial, office and retail real estate appraisals in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties in downstate New York. A real estate broker and past president of the New York State Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Jim offers over 40 years of real estate experience. He's taught at Fordham's Institute of Real Estate, and served on the Boards of Assessment Review in both Yonkers and Somers.

Not all of our real estate-related websites are for appraisers. Others are for brokers, property management and maintenance services, for a property tax grievance consultant, and for a home painting and power washing contractor.

Hudson Valley Energy Consultants: Serving the lower Hudson Valley, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange and Rockland counties in New York and Fairfield county in Connecticut, Hudson Valley Energy Consultants (HVEC) is at the forefront of green businesses. HVEC, participating in the Home Performance with Energy Star, provides energy audits for homeowners and small businesses, including thermal imagining reports.
Lemor Realty Corporation: Lemor Realty in Harlem is a family-owned and run business, actively managed by founder Leroy Morrison and son Kenneth. Both are real estate brokers, but their main focus is property management and real estate development. Most of their listings are in buildings that Lemor Realty has rehabbed and renovated. Their business is built on revitalizing New York City. A nice way to flourish!
NY Property Tax Reduction: We've had a long-term relationship with Sylvia Levins, a real estate broker and property tax consultant. Through NY Property Tax Reduction, one of her dba's, Sylvia helps Nassau County, Long Island homeowners file property tax grievances. Sylvia files, handles hearings, and goes to go court, as necessary. She's successful in over 90% of her cases!

Of course, not all of our websites are for appraisers or folks with a real-estate relationship. One of our earliest websites was for the Oyster Bay Historical Society, while a recent one is for another non-profit organization, The White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations. Another recent one is for Adam Personnel, one of New York City's foremost employment agencies and staffing firms.

The White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations: The White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations (WPCNA) seeks to enhance neighborhood living in White Plains through its meetings, communications, and sponsored events. As an advisory council, the WPCNA fosters the open exchange of information and opinion among its member associations, the public, and public officials, and by encouraging local action. Its monthly meetings are open to the public and frequently feature topical guest speakers. The website includes separate pages for member associations, a blog, a portal page, email for members, a calendar, and online office suite.
Bryant Gardens Cooperative Apartments: Also in White Plains, NY is the progressive, proactive Bryant Gardens Apartment Cooperative, comprising 409 units in 15 garden apartment buildings spread over a 22-acre parklike campus just south of City Center. Tucked in amongst a golf course, a park, and two sprawling low-density New York Hospital campuses, Bryant Gardens is known for its award-winning flower gardens, holiday lighting and festivities, and exquisitely-maintained buildings and grounds. Engaged in a long-term energy conservation program, it also is going smoke-free by asking new coop buyers not to permit smoking in their apartments. Adam Personnel & Adam Temporary Services: Several years ago, longtime friend and client Catherine Palmiere went into partnership with Robert Russo at Adam Personnel, Inc., one of New York's top employment agencies and staffing firms. Recently, she bought out Robert, and Adam has taken off like rocket! Working with employers in wide-range of industries from accounting to fashion from IT to sports, Adam conducts searches to place qualified applicants in challenging positions. Adam also runs a busy and well-regarded service for temps and part-timers, placing professionals, college grads, and career samplers in banks, law and medical offices, and glamor spots, too, such as TV, motion pictures, and publishing. And then there's two appraisers deserving of special mention, Robert Connelly in Binghamton, and Frances Zeman in Brooklyn.

Bob & Sallie Connelly: Auctions, Antiques, Appraisals: This energetic Binghamton, NY couple are a veritable whirlwind of activity. Bob is a licensed auctioneer, real estate broker, ASA personal property appraiser (another past Chapter president), and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. As an appraiser, Bob's specialties include antiques, decorative arts, general home and office contents, clocks, watches, collectibles, folk art, memorabilia, sports, coins, weapons, and historical items. Sallie "runs the show," which includes the Connelly Art Gallery, Holiday Flea Markets, and, as they say, more. Sallie also writes the Binghamton power couple's fascinating Connelly Corners blog. Nice clients, great people!
Appraisal Resource Associates: Frances Zeman, an ASA personal property appraiser, is a past President of the Long Island Chapter and vice Chair of the International Committee on Personal Property. Fran was recently selected as an ASA Fellow, its most prestigious designation, available only by award. Specializing in fine arts, antiques, decorative arts, home and office contents, and Oriental rugs, Fran is a frequent spokesperson for ASA, and appeared recently on NBC's Today Show with Ann Curry.

Metro New York Real Estate Forum: This forum offers New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut residential real estate buyers, sellers, and owners the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about metro New York real estate. Commercial advertising, other than by Webshop clients, is not permitted.
ValTalk Appraisal Forum: The ValTalk Appraisal Forum is a general Q & A forum for and about the appraising and appraisals. Any question about the appraisal process is welcome in the general Public section. Professional discussion by and for appraisers themselves is encouraged in the more limited Professional section. Commercial advertising is not permitted.

At The Webshop@servenet.com, we've found that forums are an excellent way to offer a service to the public, advertise our clients, and build traffic for the websites. The busy Mohawk ShopTalk Forum supports our clients in the automotive equipment field, all of whom are Mohawk Lifts dealers.

The Mohawk ShopTalk Forum: This active message board forum is used to buy, sell, and discuss automotive equipment lifts, balancers, wheel aligners, spray booths, air compressors and other service equipment for the automotive garage. Commercial advertisers are not permitted, but individuals use it to get advice, post classified and employment ads, find parts, manuals and friends.
AutoQuip Sales: Lou Coccaro and Mark Tulley are the owner-operators of AutoQuip Sales in Mineola, NY. Lou and Mark sell, install, service, repair and inspect Mohawk above ground automotive lifts in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn on Long Island, and in Manhattan (New York City), the Bronx, Westchester and Staten Island, too. They also offer OSHA inspection and training.
Specialty Automotive Equipment: Ross Perlstein's Specialty Automotive Equipment, headquartered in Saddle Brook, NJ picks up in downstate New York, where Lou and Mark leave off, providing Mohawk lifts to Rockland, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties in New York, and all of New Jersey from West Cape May to West Milford. Ross is the top U.S. distributor for Mohawk Lifts, having sold and installed over 5000. He offers service, repair and inspection, and focuses on OSHA certified inspections, training and reports.
JRH Equipment: Jack Hamer at JRH Equipment in Brooklyn Park, MN is another Mohawk Lifts dealer who believes in OSHA inspections, reports, and training. Jack's been selling Mohawk lifts in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Wisconsin for almost as long as Mohawk's been making them. The Hardware Shop: Ramon Brown has been serving up quality automotive and shop equipment to Colorado enthusiasts since 1991. In the past, he catered primarily to motorcycle and RV owners. But his Indian Hills, CO business needed a lift -- literally. Now Ramon and the Hardware Shop serve Colorado and southeast Wyoming with Mohawk lifts. Mohawk Automotive Lifts Southwest: Mike Green is a full-service Mohawk Lifts dealer handling Arizona, New Mexico and Las Vesgas, too. Of course, Mike sells and installs Mohawk Lifts, but he also provides lift safety training, inspections and reports.
Nichol Marketing Group (NMG): Bob Nichol at Nichol Marketing Group, Inc. (NMG) in St. Louis, MO serves the half of Missouri not served by QSE and southern Illinois. NMG's lineup of automotive service equipment manufacturers includes Hunter Engineering, Mohawk Lifts, Devair Compressors, Kaeser Compressors, Challenger Lifts, and EnviroQuip automatic part washers, among others. Rack'm Up Distributors, Inc.: Dave and Diane Beebe in McHenry, Il bring over fifteen years of major automotive franchise experience to the table whenever Illionois and Wisconsin folks look for automotive service equipment. In addition to the full line of Mohawk hydraulic lifts, Rack'm Up offers Hydra-Lift alignment, scissor and storage lifts, lathes and wheel service equipment from Accu-turn, RAV, Van Norman, and Hennessy, and air compressors from Champion, American IMC, and Castair. Weco, Inc.: Gary Wainwright, the principal of Weco, Inc. a full-range automotive equipment dealer and distributor, says he started out doing lift installations for the Mohawk factory. The quality and reliability of the product convinced him to become a Mohawk Lifts dealer himself. These days he sells, services, repairs, and, of course, installs Mohawk above and below ground lifts in Arkansas, Tennessee and northern Mississippi. Several of our websites aren't websites at all, in the traditional sense. Some are blogs and some wikis. Our oldest blogs, The Inwood Journal and the The PC News Digest, weren't called that when they began, although today they're maintained using Google's Blogger software. The Inwood Journal is a personal blog of opinions, reviews, news and commentary. The PC News Digest is primarily news and comments about Windows computing and website development. The White Plains Press blog is a collection of press releases for our clients and for our charitable and non-profit activities.

Of more recent origin, and in no particular order, are Oyster Bay History -- its name tells its story -- Retail Smarts, my notes on retailing, Yahoo! Spectator, my observations as an inveterate Yahoo! user, and Lou Bruno in Camera, photos and notes from our travels.

Our first wiki was for the Binghamton, NY July Fest sponsored by the Downtown Binghamton Business Associaton (DBBA). This was developed as a public service when Sallie Connelly -- the Sallie in Bob & Sallie Connelly -- told me that she and Bob were strong supporters of the July Fest, but it didn't have a website. The wiki format makes it easy for me and others to update it as events change.

Our second wiki is for Barrow Appraisal Associates, a firm of machinery and equipment appraisers headed by Kal Barrow. Kal, who has over 40 years experience worldwide providing appraisals and cost surveys, is a recent past President of the New Jersey ASA Chapter, and a frequent guest speaker, instructor, and author on machinery and equipment topics. The wiki format will let Kal keep his website current as his career continues to unfold.

Our third wiki is a Google site developed in conjunction with the White Plains Press blog mentioned above. It's the White Plains Press website which offers press releases to Webshop and other clients for marketing and promotion. Another, using Google's software, is White Plains Smoke Free, which together with its White Plains Smoke Free blog, is an advocacy website that seeks to ban smoking in multiunit housing in White Plains, NY.
